So in October 2014 I held another fantastic popup evening in Harpenden and the lovely folks from the St. Albans and Harpenden Review came along to have a taster of my 8 course Greek inspired menu. I was also honoured to have the beautiful and kind Tonia Buxton come along as well for a bite!
You can read the full article in the St Albans and Harpenden Review here. I need to also say a big thank you to the wonderful Tonia Buxton for gracing me with her presence and inspirational words – it was lovely to meet such a wonderful person (although rather nerve racking cooking Greek food for the authority on Greek food!).
October 2014 marked the fourth popup restaurant I have done so far since being on Masterchef, quitting my job and donning an apron instead of a suit. The popup restaurants are brilliant and the whole team at the Silver Palate have been super helpful in not only helping transform their gorgeous deli into a swanky restaurant for one night a month but also for all their support on the night (thank you guys!) and I love nothing more than hearing the roar (and oohs and ahhhs) of 40 guests having a great time and eating my food.
The popups have all been about Elegant Village Food from Cyprus and Greece, I was hoping to do another popup in November but due to an overwhelming response for private dining events I’ve decided to spend the next couple of months creating another fabulous menu to launch in the new year – and it will be even better than before!
Some interesting facts:
- 1 ticket sold every 45 seconds when released
- 320 dishes served at my popup restaurant in one night
- 150 people on the waiting list (but it is always first come first served so sign up now for a chance!)
- 40 guests, 8 courses each
- 6 staff to help serve, plate up, clean – generally try to make everyone as happy as possible!
- 1 chef cooks everything (me!)
As usual the only way to get tickets to my popup is to be on my waiting list – so click here to pop your name down and remember to check your junk mail once you’ve subscribed – so inappropriate to have my emails in spam [insert bad food joke here :)]
