Welcome to the new TheoCooks rotisserie BBQ
Skewers and Rotisserie
Cooking food on a spit, specifically a skewer has to be one of the most popular methods of cooking food around the world.
Food cooked on a skewer is known in Japan as Yakitori, the Greeks call it Souvlaki (or Souvla), the Middle East go with Kebabs, for the Indonesians it’s Satay and the Brazilians go for the Churrasco.
So why so popular? Well, it’s for a very good reason! Using skewers to cook your food is perfect for anything from small bite sized portions of meat, vegetables, fish to much bigger chunks of meat.
Skewers + Rotisserie = Magic!
The TheoCooks BBQ has two rotisserie mechanisms and a rotisserie motor; this means once you’ve popped your food onto the skewers you can turn on the engine and let them spin!
Meaning you can carry on enjoying yourself and not be chained to the BBQ flipping burgers! (although for most of us we’ll just hang around the BBQ anyway!).
Food cooked on a rotisserie is unlike any other BBQ you’ve experienced.
The rotisserie makes the food self-basting; meaning all those lovely juices from your food keeps trickling over the skewers and around the food creating maximum flavour!
Charcoal vs Gas
I’m just going to say it – I think charcoal is the only way to cook a BBQ!
Controversial I know but hey, I’m being honest! Mankind has been cooking over charcoal for thousands of years and for good reason – the flavour is unbeatable. If you want to create the ultimate BBQ, personally I don’t think you can beat charcoal, for sure, gas is quicker to get going but BBQ’s aren’t meant to be convenient food – it’s meant to be amazing food! It’s meant to be time to spend with friends and family.
But! You’ve got to get good quality charcoal; invest in the best charcoal you can get (if it says ‘restaurant quality’ or lump wood you are usually OK).
Why the TheoCooks BBQ?
1. Better Tasting Food
Cooking skewers on a rotisserie means the food is self basting, which means maximum flavour! Any juices that do hit the coals instantly create that wonderful smoky flavour.
2. Evenly Cooked
The skewers are constantly turning cooking everything evenly on all sides. Plus skewers start to cook the food from the inside at the same time as they get hot.
3. Lazy Man’s BBQ
Once you’ve got the skewers turning (with the battery-powered rotisserie motor included) let the BBQ do the work whilst you enjoy party.
4. Slow Cooking…
Slow cooking couldn’t be easier with the TheoCooks BBQ. Check out my Lamb Souvla video (lamb shoulder cooked for two hours over the coals – with virtually no effort from me – but WOW! do they come out amazing.
5. Versatile
You can cook for a family of four as easy as cooking for 20!
